GREETINGS
In asking you to prayerfully consider giving to Cornerstone Christian Academy Foundation of Faith Campaign, I am inviting you to join with us in a wonderful adventure. It is exciting to begin a new work, especially a good and wholesome work like the establishment of a Christian school. I often recall how Jesus blessed the little children, and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14). And, how he taught us that "whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me (Mark 9:37). What a privilege it is to make a way for children to come to a school that receives them in Jesus's name!
When teachers and parents first covenanted together in order to establish an independent Christian school for Appomattox, Millie Drinkard, our first grade teacher, suggested the name Cornerstone Christian Academy. It is an apt and timely name. It is so important to lay a good foundation, and vital for a Christian ministry to be tied securely to the Cornerstone, our Lord Jesus Christ, "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed" (Isaiah 28"16). In trusting in Jesus, we have not been dismayed, but we have been amazed by the goodness of God and the way that he works through his people.
With a committed faculty and already over 60 students, Cornerstone is well on its way. We have purchased a 25,000 sq. ft. building to be our permanent home, but it is a tubula rasa, a blank slate. Gifts and pledges have already provided for the purchase of our five acre campus and building. Every dollar of your gift to the Foundation of Faith Campaign will help to pay for the walls and wires, ceiling and floors, doors, fixtures, and everything else necessary to turn the building into our home.
